Three Core Reasons Why You Don’t Reach Your Goals

Goals are important to you, but why cant you reach them? What ways can you make it easier and set yourself up for success?

Discipline

Self-Discipline is completely reliant on setting your own goals and valuing your own vision so much that you follow through on the big plan. It is about giving yourself parameters and trusting yourself to meet them, even when you feel lazy, tired, exhausted etc. If you feel like you don’t deserve happiness or your own dreams, you will self-sabotage. One way to combat that is to set large goals over large periods of time like 1 year, then come up with small, easy goals that accumulate to that goal.

Accountability

Group/Peer Accountability is an incredible tool that I personally do not utilize enough. It is easy for us to not put our goals out there, for fear that if we don’t accomplish them, we would look poorly to our peers. Perhaps the real problem is our peers do not support us and we should choose new peers who have similar goals…

Lack of Consequences.

Consequences are meant to train us. They are a tool that evolution used to drive a point home, so our species will survive. Many of us avoid consequences like the plague. If there is no consequences for not hitting your goals, then our brains doesn’t learn. Usually losing money you already have is a huge driver mentally to ensure productivity. And I don’t mean “I didn’t make money and I lost what I didn’t make”, what I mean is: you give yourself a “if I don’t [Insert Goal Here], then I will donate money to [a specific needy cause]” This loss of something you already own/have, activates the pain center more effectively than if you morn something you never had. One better technique is to tell your peers about your consequence if you don’t succeed, this throws in the accountability component.

The universe has other plans for you. Big plans. Are you going to be on your death bed and look back with remorse for the never tried business ideas, for the never accomplished fitness and health goals?

Our habits, our community and our physical surroundings make a huge difference in our mentality.

Humans don’t live up to their potential, they live up to what they think they can be.

If you don’t value yourself, you will not live up to your potential. Start that lifestyle change (not crash diet), surround yourself with people who are better, smarter, richer than you. (Because guess what, they put their pants on the same way as you do every morning. They just normal people in a different community and mindset as you are now.)

Go outside your comfort zone so you can level up your mentality. If you are financially strapped for cash, listen to podcasts of empowering people who lift you up and challenge your thought process.

You can be whoever you want to be and accomplish whatever you set your mind to do! Happy goal setting!
